Find out more about emotion-focused therapy

Mindfulness

Kevin Griffin is a well known mindfulness teacher and an author of numerous books on mindfulness.
Although his focus has been on recovery from additions, his books and guided meditations are relevant for anyone who wishes to learn about mindfulness. The audio segment of Kevin's web site has a number of guided meditations.

Metacognitive Therapy

Type of therapy which has been effective for anxiety and depression, and is related to mindfulness: metacognitive therapy

Stoicism

Stoicism is making a comeback. There are many programs, books and individuals who are promoting the principles of the Greek and Roman Stoic philosophers. Although, in my opinion, the Stoic approach to emotions is not particularly nuanced, Stoicism's emphasis on developing our character provides an important perspective, not inconsistent with the tenets of emotion focused therapy. The four 'cardinal virtues' espoused by the Stoic philosophers represent important guiding principles for life.
